FireCoatings provides on-site and suitable pre-install intumescent coating for commercial and industrial steelwork, supported by project-specific surface preparation, controlled application and agreed inspection records. We work to the accepted design information and selected coating-system requirements.
We apply intumescent coatings to installed and pre-install structural steel, planning the work around the project stage, substrate condition, access, programme and accepted coating-system requirements.
Steel condition, contamination, existing coatings and the selected system determine the preparation required. We review the available information and accessible surfaces, then agree a suitable method before application.
“After a decade in the protective coatings industry, I built FireCoatings to deliver fire protection without unnecessary noise — just clear documentation, a controlled application process, and professional site practice.”

Application QA and Handover Records
Agreed QA checks are built into the project work scope. Records may include preparation details, product and batch information, application-condition checks, WFT readings, DFT inspection, repairs and recorded deviations.
The resulting records give the project team clear information about the work completed within our scope. They do not replace the fire strategy, structural design, product evidence or formal review and approval process.
We support project teams across commercial, retail, industrial, infrastructure and logistics settings. Each project is planned around the accepted design information, required fire-resistance period, steel geometry, environment, access, programme and site controls.
Office Buildings and Mixed-Use Developments
On-site application for office and mixed-use projects, coordinated with the accepted fire and structural design information, fit-out sequence, access requirements and required finish.
Retail and Public-Facing Developments
Application and repair work can be planned around public-facing finishes, phased fit-out, access restrictions and agreed work areas, with coating requirements taken from the accepted project information.
Manufacturing and Processing Facilities
Manufacturing environments may involve chemical exposure, heat, restricted access and live operations. The selected coating system and exposure classification must be confirmed before the application scope is agreed.
Infrastructure and Transport-Related Structures
Infrastructure and transport projects can involve complex access, work at height, operational interfaces and project-specific standards. Early coordination helps define the preparation, application, inspection and record requirements.
Warehousing and Distribution Centres
Large-span steelwork and extensive member schedules require careful access, sequencing and inspection planning around the construction or operational programme.
Refurbishment and Existing Buildings
Existing coatings, corrosion, restricted access and incomplete records can complicate refurbishment work. Surveys, preparation trials and technical queries help the project team define an accepted preparation and coating scope.
Project Records
Clear Application and Inspection Records
We document the agreed checks for our work scope, which may include surface preparation, product and batch details, application conditions, WFT and DFT readings, repairs and recorded deviations. Records are issued for project-team review and handover.
Project Coordination
How Our Services Fit the Wider Programme
We coordinate with principal contractors, steelwork teams and project professionals so preparation and application work fits the accepted design information, access arrangements, site logistics and construction programme. Requirements and responsibilities are clarified before work begins.
