Why Policies Matter in Fire Protection

In regulated fire-protection work, policy frameworks are not an administrative exercise, they are an operational requirement. Clear policies establish how work is planned, delivered and controlled, ensuring safety on site, legal compliance and consistent application of fire-protection systems.

Our policies provide the foundation for:

Safe working practices on live construction sites

Compliance with UK legislation and industry standards

Consistent delivery of systems aligned with specifications and fire strategies

They support decision-making at every level of the business, from site operations through to quality assurance and certification.
Policy Framework

Policy Framework Structure

Our policies are organised into four defined operational domains to ensure clarity, accessibility and relevance. Each domain addresses specific regulatory obligations and practical requirements essential to the delivery of compliant structural steel fire protection.

This structure allows clients, auditors and principal contractors to clearly understand how governance is applied across all aspects of our operations.

Health & Safety Governance

Our health and safety policies define how risks are identified, assessed and controlled across all fire-protection activities. They cover site safety procedures, risk management, PPE requirements, incident reporting and emergency response.

These policies ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and provide a consistent framework for delivering works safely across commercial and industrial environments.

Environmental Stewardship

Our environmental policies set out how waste is managed, pollution is prevented and environmental impact is minimised during fire-protection works. These commitments are aligned with the Environmental Protection Act and recognised industry best practice.

Environmental considerations are integrated into project planning and site operations to ensure responsible delivery alongside technical compliance.

Ethical Governance

Our ethical governance framework includes our modern slavery statement, anti-bribery and corruption policy, equality and diversity framework and code of conduct. These policies reflect our commitment to fair, transparent and responsible business practices.

They apply to all employees, contractors and supply chain partners engaged in delivering works under the FireCoatings.co.uk name.

Quality Assurance & Competence

Our quality assurance policies define how competence, training, document control and continuous improvement are managed across the business. This includes training and competency standards, complaints handling procedures and quality management systems that underpin consistent system delivery.

These policies support our structured QA processes, WFT monitoring, certification procedures and audit readiness.

From the founder

“After a decade in the protective coatings industry, I built FireCoatings to deliver compliant fire protection without unnecessary noise — just clear documentation, a controlled application process, and professional site practice.”

Compliance With Building Regulations and Standards
Our policies directly support compliance with Approved Document B, BS 476, EN 13381 and UK Building Safety requirements. They form the operational foundation for CHAS and SSIP accreditation and support main contractor pre-qualification, audits and tender submissions.

This governance framework ensures that fire-protection works are delivered within a controlled, compliant and auditable system from mobilisation through to certification.
